Don't translate 「常識」 as "common sense," and you'll feel a lot
better.  Much more accurate is "the conventional wisdom", without the
disparaging overtones that often occur with the American usage.  More
idiomatically, "Anyone who doesn't use MS Office is a pioneer."  See
how much better you feel?  :-)

"Sophisticated"?  Even the techs here are rarely sophisticated.  They
know the buzzwords, but hacking or script-based customization is very
foreign to most of them.  "Sophisticated" mostly seems to mean knowing 
how to change your Windose wallpaper.

And you can call the MS-trained technical support (at least here at
Tsukuba-Dai, you can).  Linux doesn't have training classes yet.
