There are a couple of sites I have found recently which announce
interesting things; they can best be described by visiting them for
several days.

	http:slashdot.org

has "News For Nerds.  Stuff That Matters".

	http://freshmeat.net

has release announcements mostly.

Both are worth visiting several times a day, at least until you get
the flavor of them.  Freshmeat can be visited once or twice a week
without lossage, but slashdot.org should be visited daily.
