Interesting.  I'm on irc.karrn.ad.jp now with BitchX.  I haven't
used IRC in a long time.  There is no one here now.  Kazu seems
to have come and gone.   I need to learn some IRC commands.  
What is the best client that can transmit Japanese?  I noticed
that Kazu's nickname is in Japanese.
