I agree completely. What kind of drive do you have in mind? DAT, or something else? At home I use a Conner (now Seagate) SCSI drive that is native 2 GB, up to 4 GB with compression. It runs 25 - 30 meg per minute on a Fireport 20 and has been completely reliable for over 2 years. This drive is now also available in an 8 GB version. The external one is a bit steep, about 75,000 yen at T-Zone, but a tape drive with enough capacity to let us do an unattended backup on one tape is going to set us back a bit. I'm not sure if internal versions are available, but could check. I would imagine they are. I'm not sure how this compares price-wise to DAT. 4 mm DAT maybe wouldn't be too much more, but how much can you fit on one tape?
