tlug: Sony vaio 505

Some time ago, Manuel commented on he Sony Vaio 505.  I was
down in Shinbashi, so I went to an electronics shop to check it
out.  The cheapest one they had there was a 166 Intel MMX model
for about 250,000.  I seem to remember one for under 200,000 yen,
but it was a 133mhz model.  The '97 11 brochure I have is for the
133mhz model.  Perhaps it was known to be discontinued and thus
heavily discounted?

I was just wondering, can Linux make use of the mmx specific features?

on a different subject, has anyone got JPython (Java Python) to 
work under Linux?  The installer is giving me problems and I haven't
gotten it to work yet.   

Re: LyX under Debian Hamm
I recompiled LyX under Debian Hamm, and I'm still getting core dumps.
The compilation went through fine with no errors.
Anyone have it running under Debian, or have any hints?  I suspect it
is a library compatibility problem, but the links seem to be to the
newer libs.
