I have just finished setting up my own new notebook and might be able to help
you. The most importent thing is to get some more information about the
hardware, i.e. what kind of graphics chipset does the note use, what kind of
PCMCIA controller, which soundcard etc.. From that one can usually deduce if
Linux has a chance of working or not. The information is sometimes availlable
on the web-sites of the companies selling the notebook. I just got myself
a canon innova notebook and found all the necessary information on canon`s
web pages before I bought the note. It`s also important to see that the note
has no hidden "special" features, like an unusually HDD controler or the like.
