I use a Toshiba Tecra 510CDT with Slackware 3.3 (kernel 2.0.30).
The basic stuff works fine, and I haven't tried the special stuff
yet (e.g., I need to rebuild the kernel to try sound support,
and I don't know about the IR i/f, even if I had another IR device
with which to test it). I read somewhere that Toshiba is not open
with their hardware, so drivers for everything may not be possible.
E.g., in addition to IR, I might have difficulty using the sound i/f
to the telephone (to implement voice-mail in Linux), altho the modem
works fine (even in Japan). Anyway, see

for references to Linux info on many different types of Toshibas.
