tlug: perl ?

Hi all,

For some reason, this month's Linux Journal makes me feel like I'm living in a
cave.

Anyway, in the At the Forge column, there's a recipe for making cookies, and as
usual, I started going through the examples as a way to learn more perl. But,
as soon as I tried to use the diagnostics module the scripts broke:

couldn't find diagnostic data in /usr/lib/perl5/pod/perldiag.pod
/usr/lib/perl5/i486-linux/5.003 /usr/lib/perl5
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/i486-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl . ./cookie-test.pl
at /usr/lib/perl5/diagnostics.pm line 225, <POD_DIAG> chunk 507.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ./cookie-test.pl line 3, <POD_DIAG> chunk
507.

perldiag.pod IS in /usr/lib/perl5/pod and when I updated to 5.003 I used the
standard make install so everything _should_ be where it's supposed to be.

Any ideas on why this might be happening? All the other modules I've used so
far seem to be working fine.

Merry Christmas

Jim S.
