I am setting up Redhat 4.2 on a new Pentium II. I have a Adaptec AHA-2940UW SCSI Adapter and a SMC Etherpower II ethernet card. Right now I am having trouble getting the ethernet card to work correctly. The SCSI and ethernet card both want the same IRQ, IRQ 9. I am using a driver for the Epic chip in the ethernet card called epic100. I get the following when I initialize the card: eth0: SMC EPIC/100 at 0xf400, IRQ 9, 00:e0:29:10:e2:e4 eth0: MII transceiver found at address 3. SIOCSIFFLAGS: Try again According to the ethernet HOW-TO, this means exactly what I have. That is another device is using this IRQ (SCSI). The HOW-TO says if I can get the other device (SCSI) to let go of IRQ 9, then I can initialize the ethernet card and then let the SCSI use IRQ 9 again with no problems. My problem is How do I make the SCSI let go of IRQ 9 while I initialize the ethernet card? Anybody have any ideas on this?
