  Good to know that this has worked in some cases.  I'll probably give
it a shot once I have a Matrox-configured X to try out on it.

  Yeah, recompiling the kernel is a piece of cake.  I've done it so many
times now, that I don't even need to look at my notes anymore before doing
it.  What the XFree86 programmers are talking about is rolling your own
customized X-Server, which is something different, and that I have no
experience with at all.

  As I said before, any pointers would be most welcome.
