Hum, a shot in the dark:  Is there a -static specification (or
something equivalent) on the command line anywhere?  You only show the
tail end so I can't be sure.


Someone asked about tripwire:  it writes checksums of all of your
programs in / on to a floppy; you make the floppy read-only and you can
check your / against the floppy and see if anyone has twiddled with you
binaries.  It's up to you whether it's worth running or not--if I had a
gateway system which was the firewall to my office, and I was concerned
that no one was messing with it, I would probably run it.
