This "trying fixed" warning comes when I start Xterm also specifying the fl option for the desired font. I hadn't realised you were trying to run kterm under Win95. I am not aware of the capabilities of the X-server s/w available on Win95, but it is possible that it cannot handle double-byte codes. Have you checked? >> I tried Xfontsel , Xlsfonts and Xfd . Xlsfonts is able to display all the "hp" fonts >> when I specify the pattern "*hp*. Yes, but these are single-byte codes, ne? >> PS: I also have all these fonts used by my X-Server under a separate subdirectory. These are (.FON) fies recognized by Windows . These are the same files as in the Linux subdirectory. So, I face the same problem even if I stop the font server . I have no experience of X-servers with fonts other than .bdf & .pcf. I think you have gone way out into uncharted waters....... Jim -- Jim Breen [$@%8%`!&%V%j!<%s(J@$@%b%J%7%eBg3X(J] Department of Digital Systems.
