Is there a way to fix this? *If* /dev/hda2 is an ext2 filesystem, then you are observing correct behavior. The ext2 filesystem reserves (hmm, I think it's five percent) of the filesystem for the super-user (it's the -m option in mke2fs). Here's an example of my hard drive usage: Filesystem 1024-blocks Used Available Capacity Mounted on /dev/hda2 1178327 1001264 116180 90% / I should have 177063 blocks free, but df returns a number just under 60Kb smaller due to the reserved overhead. -- Chris (wileyc@example.com) ----------------------------------------------------------------- a word from the sponsor will appear below ----------------------------------------------------------------- The TLUG mailing list is proudly sponsored by TWICS - Japan's First Public-Access Internet System.
