:-) :-)  At least on my system, Mule isn't smart enough to figure out
that /usr/local/info/dir is an info file---"mule /usr/local/info/dir"
works fine when I'm root (on the other hand, mule *does* recognize
RMail files, and goes into RMail mode automagically when an RMail file 
is edited).

You can (if you have write permission) edit info nodes from inside of
Emacs Info by typing "e".  You may have to do ESC ESC "(setq
Info-enable-edit t)" RET first to enable editing.

Emacs isn't the solution to everything, but there's a tendency to want 
to use something that takes up 68.71% of your disk space....  ;-)
