Linux and system security

Hi y'all,

Sorry I missed the last meeting - maybe next time.

My step-brother in Calf. has asked me to help him test the security of his
company's new web page. They're using a validate.cgi script to allow access
to a company database to any computer that has a company IP address.

He gave me an IP address that belongs to a company Sun box that is currently
off-line, and asked me if there is some way I can give it to my Linux box.
Is this what they mean by 'spoofing'?

This is a test in a friendly/authorized environment, and I thought it might
be an interesting thread for those who are using Linux as a web server platform.

(BTW, I never did get the NSCA httpd to work with imagemaps so I'm going to
switch to Apache 1.1 and see if it works.)

Regards,

Jim
