re: Windows NT woes, switching to Linux

Before you proceed to bash Windows NT, consider that you are using

I was done, actually. No intention of "proceeding." But how could I
possibly resist responding to the following quote from your post by
quoting you quoting me *in the very same post*!???!!?

a version outdated by a year or two. Try 3.51, or specifically
mention you are using 3.50, which is like using Linux from a year
   or two ago.

Um, Ted? It's not like I didn't mention that NT does do some things
better than most anybody else. And you quoted the following from my post:

I do plan to inform Microsoft; maybe they'll fix it, maybe they
   already have (I have v3.5, I think there's a v3.51 or so by now). I
don't think I'll bother to reinstall, though.

What more do you want?

Anyway, your comparison is not true. Windows NT is advertised as a
*robust* solution to all common office automation problems. The 1st
public release trashed my hard drive---you've heard that story often
enough already. 3.5 freezes up if an ethernet board or driver goes
south on you. I'm sorry---every time I touch NT it screws me. Maybe
I'm the only person ever to have problems with Windows NT, and MS
released 3.51 or whatever is current solely to improve performance.
Not.

Linux advertises that it's permanently in beta. (Check the COPYLEFT
if you don't believe me.) Big difference.

And what in the world is this:

Are you ever gonna do something about that mailer? I mean, next time
it could be your OS kernel!! <g>
