not directly Linux, but related to openhardware, and probably interesting
for folks here.

Since recently, one can design an own chip, send it to companies and have
the chip produced in roughly the structure width of pentium2 chips.  That
got now into realistic price ranges of around 1000$.
FPGA is nice.. but this here is then real, own silicon. :)

The easterhegg event in Germany had a talk on this, and I will on Friday
do kind of powerpoint-karaoke, so take the original slides and will talk
trough the topic as good as I can.
In the talk, the WSPR protocol got implemented, and even analog parts
were placed on the silicon, the presentation is at the TIARA HAM
group.
