Hi TLUG, this presentation might also be interesting here. Software Defined Radio (SDR) is getting popular recently: these are devices which can be as cheap as $30. You can attach them to a computer, they perform a part of what classic radios do. In concert with the computer they can allow you to receive signals from anywhere between 10khz and some Ghz frequencies. As the data is already in the computer, you can then have it decoded: FM transmissions (i.e. listen to radio), decode morse code, ADS-B position reports from airplanes, and much more. Details: Today, 7pm JST Location: Meeting room 202, at Jiyugaoka Juku center Agenda: We will use this hardware: - an older laptop - 1 or 2 cheap Software Defined Radio (SDR) devices - a small antenna With this setup, one can open a web browser and listen to UKW radio, to many other frequencies, decode CW and FT8, and much more. We will present what that setup can do, and prepare a presentation showing the basic steps how to set this up. As the access is via web browser, the access could also happen from somewhere else on the world, as long as the network is reachable. Used software: Debian Linux, OpenWebRX+ cheers, Christian
