Tim,I have mentioned before that the US military almost always has several Japan openings for sysadmins, customer support, subject matter experts, and other IT service provider jobs that are open to US citizens. Some, but not all, require previous military experience, but there are several I have seen in which the veteran service requirement is being lowered due to a lack of applicants.Nearly all on-base jobs require that you have a US and/or Japanese driver's license and use that as a disqualifying factor, so get one if you don't have one. Some require that you already have certain security clearances but there are always a few that will allow you up to a year to apply and receive them as a condition of hire. Most of the work is at Yokosuka, Yokota, and Kadena, but other base locations open up from time-to-time.When the military hires directly it is usually via USAJOBS. The main civilian contractors looking for IT staff are CACI, CSC and Serco, but there are also others if you look around and focus your search on computer jobs in Japan. A Google search for "computer jobs at [base and/or base location town name]" and "Yokosuka Naval Base Jobs" will usually take you to civilian websites with numerous opportunities on Kanto and in Okinawa.Good luck. -- CL
