Well, to answer my own question: I installed it. Compared to Kubuntu, 
which I've been using for a long time, it is indeed noticeably snappier, 
and if that continues to hold true, it will be an improvement. Other 
than that, I don't notice anything so special. Maybe the reviewer is 
just trying to hype Gnome, or get more people to try Linux in general.
