Would start by checking hardware. 

Run memtest for 24 hours at least.
Check S.M.A.R.T status.
How hot are CPU and northbridge chips? 
Look for bulged capacitors on motherboard. 
Look for dust bunnies blocking or slowing down air flow. 
If you can, check power supplies with an oscilloscope.
