I know that the displayport->hdmi adapter is working, since I get
audio output using the displayport of the Thinkpad T510 here.
So using the same Fedora version, comparing modules, playing with
different output options in pavucontrol, different output programs
(vlc, xbmc) and a XBMC live distro.. 
No output on hdmi.

Yes, I was very surprised to see that the hardware here does not
offer that HDMI actually could offer, lenovo-- .

Indeed.  When no TV are involved I still prefer DVI, atleast
no power is wasted there for any encryption stuff.

Good thinking, but the LG here has no 3.5inch analog input.
