- Subject: [tlug] To break the silence: Live distro on an Atom
Hi.... so, I'll break the silence, since I needed to ask anyway :-)
I'm trying to help a friend by getting him a live distro to use
occasionally by booting off a USB stick. I tried to demo one for him on
his netbook yesterday, just using a Mint that I had installed on a
stick I have, using (IIRC) Unetbootin. This thing boots fine on my
Thinkpad, but on his Atom-based netbook, it was ignored. At first I
thought, "oh, it's an Atom... not binary compatible", but then.... that
doesn't make sense, does it? The point of Atom is that it's compatible
with x86, at least at some level, right? I haven't heard of any Atom-
specific distros.
I'd be grateful for some advice on what might have gone wrong here.
Dave
