So I checked around and (please correct me if I am wrong) it seems
that Windows systems are set by default to local time, and setting

is the culprit here, but since I have made no changes or reinstalls
of Windows in a couple of years, but have indeed reinstalled Debian
recently (pretty close to the time of the start of this problem) and

I'm not trying to take sides between Linux/Windows :-), but
I think it would be more correct to say that the problem
lies with Linux because Windows is inflexible... I have a

I certainly meant no criticism of Linux. I'm delighted that I have the option of being able to a clean install of Linux in about a half hour or so. Doing something like that with Windows needs a day.
