We did that changeover with iFLYER a few years back and it /seemed/ to
have a positive impact on rank with certain keywords, but frankly I
find it rather difficult to measure exactly what changes have how much
impact and where.

At any rate, implementing human readable urls is trivial to do, your
users will be happier, and unless you are doing something /really/
weird, it won't have a negative impact on your page rank.
