[tlug] Picasa on Ubuntu

I have just installed Ubuntu on my core2duo laptop (HP) and have had some trouble with Picasa after downloading and installing it. I have the Japanese version of Ubuntu Linux on this machine, and of course the menus all use Japanese fonts. Except Picasa. It doesn't display any fonts. I have the latest stable version of Picasa for Linux on this machine (2.7) and it downloaded and installed with no problems. It also set itself up and ferreted out all my graphics files with no problems. But I can't use the menus. I googled around for a while but haven't found any answer to this. I wonder if the problem is with Picasa or with Wine.

Anyone else with a Japanese setup encountered this problem already and have an answer?
