I have personally had the opposite experience with FF3: fonts look
*great* on both Linux and MacOS X.

FF3 is better than FF2 in every way that matters to me: speed, memory
usage, presentation, and addon support (every FF2 addon that I have
tried with FF3 has worked, save a couple that I probably just need to
hack the version string--will report back).
