At Stanford in August 1980 the secretaries in SAIL and the CS
Department were using Emacs and (raw) TeX on TOPS-20.  Some were
technical typists but most were not, handling the usual run of office
memos and the like.  They far preferred it to typewriter since edits
were frequent.
