With all due respect, that is an education answer and not a marketing one. People will use what they are first taught in any majority of instances. For most of the adult population, education is a limited input unless it pays immediate dividends.

Good point, but if you take this to its natural conclusion, is it not mostly a wasted effort to promoting Linux by appealing to end users who have no strong motivation to change and have grown up in a windows world. They will, after all revert to what they were first taught. Would it not be better to promote the use of Linux in projects like the OLPC program, so Linux is the first thing children are taught, and appeal to banks, Governments and other large employers who are capable of creating a demand and paying a dividend.
