In which case naive captchas won't do, either, and probably neither
will sophisticated captchas.  Note that the top pages of wikipeida are
all locked down nowadays.

Basically, the main thing that saves web pages is that they are a pull
medium, so they are either not going to get many views, or if they do,
they get cleaned up quickly.  Email is a push medium; you can't
concentrate cleanup efforts on the few emails that get lots of
views....
