Edward,I suggested in the announcement that people post questions for Prof. Hideaki
I'd like to ask this question if it's not too off-topic.
To what extent, if any, does Japanese copyright laws allow for use of copyrighted material for the purpose of satire? Is there a concept of "fair use" (as in the US) or "fair dealings" (as in Canada)?
In particular, I'm interested in what restrictions there are in sampling portions of copyrighted material for satire. Taking samples of news clips in in order to create comedy about them, for example.
