Both Intel and AMD were working on Xen support for hardware
virtualization since before the hardware was publicly available. I
don't know what the status of the AMD support is in current
distributions supporting Xen but I would imagine it is about the same.
It is hardly surprising that they couldn't agree on a standard
interface, they couldn't even manage to agree on an architecture for
64bit processors.
