Also, even though Linux has fewer viruses
targeted at it, there are a few. Not to
mention, targeted non-automated attacks
do happen on occasion. How much access
these attackers and/or viruses have to
your system, is directly related to the
level of access that you have when they
successfully get through.
When you use a GUI as root, you open
yourself up to a lot of the same security
risks that you are open too when runnig windows.

That said, I am working on a response to
the OP's email also, discussing how to do
what he wants to do. ^^;;
