I did that for a while, and it killed me. How is this any different from what I do, other than the fact that you don't have to hit escape a few times you visit a site for the first time and I do?

I used to do it your way. I hit escape a *lot* less now. Let's just say, I've done it both ways, and I'm willing to put in a fair bit of initial effort to do it mine.
