Hi Tlug,
Should anyone take a close glance at this?
For a long time, md5 is the defacto hash algorithm and this is the
first time I heard that it is unsecure.

Debian Security Advisories currently contain MD5 checksums. As MD5 is no
longer strong enough, maybe it should be replaced by SHA1 or SHA256?
