TLUG,
For amusement's sake, I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.19.1. I want to test
some potential Wacom advancements and other things.
I still have my previous kernel, so this is just an exploration.
I can't seem to install anything with the new kernel, and I'm confused
as to why. Things that are not in the repository and require access to
kernel headers or whatnot always fail. Things like IVTV, Lirc, VMWare...
I think this is because I don't have the correct kernel-headers and
source on my system. But obviously they're not in the Ubuntu
repositories because Ubuntu isn't up to this kernel yet.
I did this before, upgrading the kernel ahead of what Ubuntu has, and
yet I don't recall having this problem.
Sorry if this question is vague, as I'm not quite sure how to express it.
What do I need to do to ensure a stable build environment so that I can
successfully install new modules, drivers?
