Hope this doesn't mess with the threads.  Some of this is copy and pasted from the archive since I haven't received the digest yet.

As far as the Japanese territory Vs US territory thing goes, American military in Japan are actually Japanese territory.  Our treaties with them are a little different on that score than most countries.

My question also has longer reaching effect for me because I am planning to stay in Japan after leaving the military.  I just hope I can find a Job ok. :)

Under the UCMJ though, most things are handled according to the laws of the host country.  There are exceptions of course.

As for the DMCA...  Scary stuff.  The DMCA really didn't add anything new to the laws, but the people enforcing the laws seem to act like it did.  @example.com@  Hollywood seems to like to act like it did.  It is a scary day in any country when law is interpreted by the media and not the lawyers.
