It doesn't if swapping Epson parts for others is going to void your
warranty!

Why not buy the parts and build the machine yourself? There will be
warranties on all the individual parts, you can choose what you put in
and thus optimize Linux compatibility, and you usually get more bangs
for the buck^W man.
