My vote: 

no  1. Do nothing
yes 2. Open the archives, from the beginning of time to the end of it
       (excluding tlug-admin and hikari)
no  3. Open the archives as of 01 January, 2007, but keep 2002-2006
       password protected (again, excluding admin lists)

I hope the munging will thwart automated harvesting of email addresses, 
but would decipherable by real person trying to reach the author.
