I tried adding
server.kbytes-per-second = 64
to the lighttpd config file as explained in
http://trac.lighttpd.net/trac/wiki/Docs%3ATrafficShaping
and that did the trick. Simple and easy, that's the way I like it :-)
Alain, Jim, Mauro, Edward, Keith, Josh, Edmund, Stephen and all others (I hope I didn't miss anyone) ... thanks for your input. You guys are great!
