It might actually be handy.  Then, next time someone mentions it, we
can simply put the link without comment. 

The statement should say something to the effect of, if you can't follow
the thread, please get an RFC compliant mail client.  (Hey, it rhymes.)
This is a Unix and unixlike O/S list, so unlike many of our
workplaces, we don't ~have~ to adjust to the users and their Outlook,  
the MS and MS like MUA users are expected to adjust to us.  :) (Include
the smiley to soften the blow.)

If you are using such a client, and it still irks you, 
this was discussed on the list some time ago and it was decided 
that it is acceptable.  Discussions about it will not be welcomed as it
tends to generate an overly high signal to noise ratio.   

The gurus will understand and the newcomers will, hopefully, realize that
it's something they have to learn.  

BTW, Jim, I notice you did use the (was old subject.)  Thanks for
making the effort.  

How's this for a compromise?  Would you be willing to do that
until the statement is added to the list policy?  :)
