[tlug] hello from a new / old member

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would (re)introduce myself. I'm Scott VanDusen.  I've been in Tokyo for about 4 years now working as a network / system administrator for the IT company Infosys. About 5 or 6 years ago I joined the TLUG when I was living in Sendai and got help connecting my linux box to my cable modem-remember when doing something like that in Linux was difficult? Also I was able to attend a meeting in Tokyo around that time. Sadly however my schedule became too full and I didnt have the bandwidth to keep up with the users group since then.

There are so many things to keep up with in linux however that I've decided to start attending the meetings and participating in the TLUG again. Also, a server at home got hacked the other day (apache remote php inclusion hack I think), so Id love to see how everyone is managing their security. If anyone is interested I've done some forensic analysis of the break-in and can send you the details..

Lastly, I've been studying for a while now for the RHCE and would like to meet others interested in this certification.

As far as distros are concerned, I prefer debian. The server that got hacked was running debian sarge, but Ive been using centos to study for RHCE, so Im going to reinstall with centos and crank down the selinux parameters.

Anyway I look forward to meeting everyone. Im going to try and make the meeting next week so hopefully see you there.

これからお世話になります。宜しくお願い致します。
