Caveat: please never do this on a production server. ;)

Look into distcc. Mauro and I are big believers! :)

You could also build a Faketoo[1] instance and compile binary packages
for your laptop on a big, beefy machine, and set the 'top up with
PORTAGE_BINHOST (as detailed in a previous post) to snag its packages
from the Faketoo instance automatically when you emerge them.
