Of course there is.  HCI design is a "you hadda be there" art, not a
science.  You will not get everything right the first time.  (Depends
on where you draw the line between "specification" and "design".  I do
so pragmatically---if the user says it, it's "specification", while if
the programmer decides, it's "design.")
