Oh har har. ;)

Look, I could not care less about automounting. I have no interest in
it. I just thought that my method was a good demonstration of The Unix
Way, viz, how you can do damned near anything by using a shell script
to tie together a bunch of utilities that Do One Thing Well.

I am sure that there are hundreds of more elegant ways to accomplish
this, from the kernel automounter to the hotplug system to the GNOME /
KDE auto-magic-mounting system.

So anyone else out there who *does* want to set auto-mounting up
right, ignore me and listen to the suggestions that Ben and B0ti have
made.

Anyone who is not familiar with The Unix Way might just learn
something from my trivial example.
