I also had 2 out of 3 seagate drives that failed within 2 months.

I'd say it's luck that counts. I still have an IBM drive from that
notorious deskstar series that's going strong after 4+ years.
Anybody worrying about reliabiliy shoud buy more disks and go with RAID
and forget about warranty.
