Sure, just install it and it works, at least on Debian Sid and on
Red Hat.  The Red Hat version will install on Mandrake, but on one of
my dad's Mandrake 9.2 systems, it segfaults pretty often.  On the
other one (his testing system, where he pours in any old unstable junk
from Mandrake Cooker, oddly), it works fine.

I often use Gaim also, but mostly use YM on Windows (the sole reason
I keep Windows dual-booting on my Thinkpad) because Yahoo has not shown
any interest in giving voice and video functionality to the Linux YM
client.  Heck, they only recently added webcam to the OS X client, which
doesn't have voice yet either.
