- Subject: [tlug] Postfix was mail server
Ok I am installing postfix thank you all for your advise.
It was already installed with Redhat by default as I mentioned.
I am trying to get it set up on a local network without qualified domain
name.
I have disabled domain name lookups.
Case1
if I send mail to myself just as james of course it recognizes I am a local
user and sends the mail through.
case2
If I try to send mail to james@example.com it sends fine, but is never
recieved. I look in the log files and it says
relay=192...[192...],delay=1, status=bounced (mail for 192... loops back to
myself)
case3
if I send mail to james@example.com it says host not found try
again, which I guess I should expect because it can't resolve the name.
So in order to be able to test just internal mail I would like to get case2
working It seems like I should be able to send mail james@example.com to myself
without the loop back error. If I send from another machine I get the same
loopbak error.
Obviously I screwed up but don't know where has anyone experienced this?
james
