I'll chime in with everyone else and say install RedHat 9.0. I've seen a japanese version at Yodobashi Camera that you can't download (or at least I couldn't find it). This page may also be of use:

It's a whole project devoted to your type of laptop.
Be aware that you may run into problems with the ACPI subsystem (I know I sure did on my Sony). Don't worry about that until you've given the basic installer a try though. ;)
