[tlug] ppp hangup

Seems like this is not my lucky week.

My pppd+pppoe connection keeps dying sometimes and it doesn't restart
itself, though I have all the suggested magic words in my options (like
persist and holdoff).

These are the logs:

May 22 14:24:58 siliconium kernel: PPPIOCDETACH file->f_count=3
May 22 14:24:58 siliconium pppoe[202]: Sent PADT

It seems to me that pppd tries to reconnect indeed, but can't. The only
solution I have right now is to check for the connection from a cron
script and restart.
I did google, and it threw me quite a few hits (e.g.
http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0212.3/1040.html) with this
problem, but nobody seems to know what's going on.
My kernel is 2.4.20-rc2, ppp is 2.4.1.uus-5.

Maybe I should go back to potato...
